James P. Carey, Forest Lake, has been elected president of the Minnesota Association for Justice. Carey is an attorney with Sieben, Grose, Von Holtum & Carey. His year-long term began on Aug. 13. MNAJ is dedicated to the Constitution’s guarantee of justice for all. The association, open to trial lawyers across the state, helps members keep current on emerging topics, issues and trends through seminars, conventions and institutes. Focused on the importance of protecting consumer rights, the MNAJ impacts legislative issues through lobbying efforts. As a personal injury attorney with a reputation for winning big cases, Carey is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association, a distinction awarded to less than 2 percent of all of Minnesota’s personal injury attorneys. He specializes in cases involving auto accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and abuse, catastrophic personal injury and property damage. He serves as the firm’s President and Managing Partner. Carey received his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.S. from St. John’s University.
