MTC Driver Disabled By Drunk - $225,000 settlement

After heavy drinking at a downtown St. Paul bar, a driver stumbled to his car (0.32 blood alcohol level) and roared out of his parking spot along a city street. He ran a red light at the end of the block and hit an MTC bus driven by our client, forcing the bus into a building. She suffered severe injuries that left her with permanent disabilities. Ironically, the entire accident was caught on film by the bus stop security camera nearby. Susan Holden settled the claims in this case against both the uninsured motorist and the bar where the intoxicated driver had been drinking.

For $5, patrons at a suburban nightclub received unlimited drinks from 8 to 10 p.m. After consuming four mixed drinks, a shot and a beer in two hours, the intoxicated driver got into his car and headed for home. He blacked out minutes later, crossed the centerline and hit our client's car head on. Our client suffered serious internal injuries and was hospitalized in a coma.
