Michael Miller and Harry Sieben win $1.2 million verdict in distracted-driving case

More proof that driving and dialing is never a good idea.

In 2007, a bread delivery truck driver who was on his cell phone crashed into the vehicle of Michael Willis, who was on his way to work in Wabasha, Minn. Willis, 29, suffered a brain injury and shoulder and neck and knee injuries, and has since had memory problems.

Enter personal injury lawyers Michael Miller and Harry Sieben of Minneapolis-based Sieben, Grose, Von Holtum & Carey.

The truck driver's insurance company initially offered their client $250,000. "This was lower than our expectations," Sieben told Super Lawyers. So they took the case to trial. And in late September they received a verdict of $1.2 million.

Today, Willis, an ex-Marine, is back at his job with UPS, and relieved, as Sieben tells it, "that the jury believed him."
