If you have too much to drink New Year's Eve at a metro-area T.G.I. Friday's, Harry Sieben and his law firm will give you a free lift home.
The Minneapolis law firm of Sieben, Grose, Von Holtum & Carey is offering cab rides free of charge from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday to overindulgent patrons of local Friday's restaurants. No questions asked.
Sieben, the firm's senior partner, said the firm wanted to do something to prevent injuries on a night notorious for dangerous driving. The firm specializes in personal injury and wrongful death cases.
"If it saves one life or one injury, we won't know it. But we'll be happy about it," said Sieben. A spokesperson with the local Mothers Against Drunk Driving said she was not aware of any similar programs in the Twin Cities this year. Until the mid-1990s, corporations and nonprofits sponsored the SoberCab program to give a free ride home to any person calling from a public place.
This week, the restaurants will display signs with the number to call for a ride: 612-339-9000.
