Schweiger Heads

Redistricting Commission

Paul Schweiger, a partner at the law firm’s Duluth office, chaired the commission charged with redistricting St. Louis County to reflect population changes from the 2000 Federal census.

“The Court concluded that [Paul Schweiger] is possessed of that sort of County-wide experience and heritage as to render him ideally suited as role of Chairman,” Sixth District Judge Terry Hallenbeck said in naming the Iron Range native.

Hallenbeck created the five-member panel after the St. Louis County Board of Commissioners twice submitted a redistricting plan that the court deemed unacceptable. Schweiger’s commission held three public hearings before submitting a new redistricting plan.

“The right to vote is one of our most cherished liberties,” Schweiger said. “We worked diligently with the people of St. Louis County to prepare a plan that meets the requirements of Minnesota law.”
