Pedestrian Accidents

Although pedestrians have the “right of way,” thousands are killed and injured every year when someone makes a negligent mistake. Accidents may occur due to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, inattention or distraction, speeding, not yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks, disobeying traffic laws, and disregarding traffic or weather conditions. Drivers must also take special care around children.

If you were a pedestrian injured by a vehicle, an attorney is essential. If the accident was no fault of your own, you are entitled to compensation. If, for instance, the driver broke a law at the time of your injury and was not driving with “reasonable care under the circumstances,” then they are at fault and you may qualify to receive compensation. Even if you were partly at fault for the accident, you may still be eligible for compensation.
