Steel Tubing Crushes Trucker, $450,000 Settlement

Settlement/Verdict: $450,000.00

Attorney: Arthur C. Kosieradzki
Practice Area: Worker Injury
Client Injury: Leg and foot injury

Our client, a 53-year-old independent truck driver, was delivering steel tubing to a large warehouse. While waiting at the loading dock, he hopped out of his truck and offered to help another trucker with his load. Several piles of steel tubing had already been unloaded and were stacked nearby. Suddenly there was a loud rumble as one of the stacks of steel tubing gave way and came tumbling toward our client.

He dove for safety under the semi-truck, but his leg was crushed under the heavy tubing. As a result of the accident, our client missed work for a full year. There was also some permanent damage, including amputation of a toe and arthritis. While our client eventually returned to his job as a truck driver, we successfully argued that his injuries would limit his future earning capacity and settled his case for $450,000.
