Our client was a longtime motorcyclist who was enjoying a ride in Wisconsin when trajedy struck. A following cyclist crashed into him, throwing him from the roadway and resulting in paralysis. William Bongard recovered the policy limits of $150,000 from the at-fault motorcyclist first, preserving our client's rights to Underinsured Motorist coverage by providing the proper Schmidt vs. Clotheir notifications. We investigated the contractual claims of our client's health carrier, which had paid over $300,000 in medical expenses relating to his care and treatment, and determined that the policy provided for reimbursement of those expenses only if our client was first fully compensated.  Bill Bongard successfully argued that his client's injuries were catastrophic and obtained a waiver of the entire medical reimbursement claim. He then obtained the policy limits of an additional $100,000 from our client's own Underinsured Motorist carrier.

Along the way, we reviewed our client's health insurance contract in detail, and discovered and obtained an additional $20,000 in disability benefits related to his injuries, which he had been unaware of until our involvement in the case and a careful review of his insurance contracts.
