Shannon Carey has a passion for the law that runs in the family; she's a fourth-generation attorney. Prior to becoming a trial lawyer, Shannon worked in human resources for 10 years. She worked in several industries, including a large health care system and a nationally prominent insurance company. These experiences gave her a thorough understanding of the inner workings of large businesses, providing Shannon with a unique perspective when representing her clients.
During her legal career, Shannon and her team have successfully represented individuals and families in complex litigations, including, but not limited to, medical malpractice, wrongful death, dram shop, and catastrophic injury claims. Her practice focuses on representing those who’ve been harmed by medical providers, daycare providers, nursing homes, auto or motorcycle accidents, or negligent home/business owners.
Shannon has been recognized by her peers during her legal career. In 2011, Shannon received Minnesota Lawyer's "Up and Coming Attorneys" award. This award is reserved for attorneys who have distinguished themselves during their first 10 years of practice. Shannon was one of the 25 honorees chosen.
Most recently, Shannon was selected as a 2020 Minnesota Super Lawyer honoree. Super Lawyer honorees are selected from an annual survey, and the distinction is bestowed on less than 5% of Minnesota's practicing attorneys.
From 2012-2016, Shannon was named a Rising Star in a survey by Super Lawyers Magazine. The publication asks Minnesota's top lawyers to identify an elite group of emerging lawyers, either under the age of 40 or in practice for less than 10 years, who have demonstrated the highest standards of excellence.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys spending time with her two therapy-trained American Bullies and making special visits to brighten days, traveling, searching out new labyrinths, and checking out locally owned restaurants.

Our client was driving on a sunny, summer day and has she entered a rural intersection, another vehicle hit the front, passenger side. The other vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection. Our client's vehicle veered off the road and rolled onto the passenger side.
Our client was a passenger on a motorcycle that was participating in a bike run with approximately 130 other motorcycles. The group of motorcycles were merging from an on ramp to Highway 169 and had to slow quickly. Several motorcycles lost control and tipped over, including the motorcycle our client was riding on. She and the driver were thrown off the motorcycle into the roadway. A motorcycle behind our client tried to stop but ended up driving over our client.
Our client was a young boy who was to undergo a skin harvest from his scalp for grafting of skin to his feet, related to burns he had sustained. The intent by the surgeon was to harvest a split-thickness graft with an instrument called a dermatome. However, a full-thickness portion of scalp was taken, resulting in traumatic alopecia and scarring. It was necessary to harvest skin from a different area of the boy's body, and over the next several years, 3 additional procedures were done in attempts to excise the area of alopecia and scarring. A similar procedure is anticipated to be performed when the boy is older.
Jessica was injured on a shopping trip when her foot was caught on a negligently placed pallet.
Another driver failed to stop for a stop sign and suddenly crashed into me as I was traveling through an intersection in Minneapolis. I was 66 years old.
