Jury Verdict Triples Original Agreement

$45,000

Litigation Type - Dog Bites

Client Injury - Facial Lacerations

Our client was a young teenage boy that was visiting the home of a classmate. While at the home, the boy was bitten in the face by the family dog. Unbeknownst to the child's parents, several children had been bitten by this dog in the past. Unfortunately, the owner chose to allow the dog to run free in their home, despite its propensity for viciousness.

Our client sustained significant cuts and lacerations about his face. Thankfully, his injuries resolved through proper medical care and treatment. However, the client was left with permanent facial scarring.

An initial settlement agreement with the dog's owner was reached at mediation. However, the dog owner decided to continue his irresponsible ways and revoked his agreement to the settlement. The case was tried in Hennepin County District Court and a verdict was returned in the amount of $45,000. The verdict was more than 3 times the agreed upon settlement amount at mediation.
