Kim’s Story – "This is something I'll likely have for the rest of my life."
After two car accidents left her with constant ringing in her ears and lasting effects on her daily life, Kim Addison turned to attorney Art Kosieradzki and the SiebenCarey team to help her navigate the fight with insurance companies and reclaim a sense of control. Here’s Kim’s story in her own words:
I had never really dealt with an attorney before. So when my chiropractor gave me Art’s name after my accident, I was a little nervous going in. But from that first meeting, I felt very comfortable. He sat with me, listened to my whole story, and didn’t interrupt. We even joked around a little about everyday things. It didn’t feel intimidating; it felt easy. And that made a big difference.
Both of my car accidents were caused by other people. The first one happened in 2022. I was stopped at a light, waiting to take a right, looking to my left, and a guy rammed my car from behind. That’s when the headaches and neck pain started. Then, in 2023, I was driving when a truck pulled out and ran right into me. Since then, I’ve had constant ringing in my ears that doesn’t go away. Doctors have told me it’s something I’ll likely deal with for the rest of my life.
The ringing is debilitating. It keeps me short-tempered, and I’ve felt depressed. It’s taken a lot out of my life. It’s changed things I used to take for granted. I don’t enjoy music the same way. I avoid loud places. Even at home, I’m constantly trying to manage sound — too much makes it worse, but silence makes the ringing louder. I have a daughter and a young grandson, and that’s been one of the hardest parts. I find myself asking them to be quiet more than I want to. Sometimes I just need to step away.
And yet, from the outside, it doesn’t always look like anything is wrong. Because I don’t have any broken bones or I’m not in a wheelchair or something, it can seem like it’s no big deal. But it is. It affects how I live every day.
At first, I tried to handle everything on my own. But dealing with the insurance companies quickly became overwhelming. They capped what they would pay, questioned things, and didn’t explain much. I needed help. I needed somebody who knows all these things and can stand in for me. That’s where Art came in.
He went above and beyond handling my case. He gathered my records, contacted providers, and kept track of everything so I didn’t have to. As someone who is self-employed, that meant a lot. I didn’t have to take extra time off trying to chase things down myself. He also helped me understand things I didn’t know about, like being reimbursed for mileage to appointments. My insurance never mentioned that.
Throughout the process, he kept me in the loop but never made things more stressful. I didn’t feel like I had to constantly be on the phone or worry about what was happening next. Working with him was no stress at all. And that’s what made it so great.
The insurance companies, on the other hand, have been frustrating. One offer wouldn’t have even covered one of my hearing aids. It’s hard not to feel dismissed when you’re living with something that affects you every single day.
But having Art in my corner has made a difference. I don’t have to face that alone. Art and the team are very genuine, caring people. I would definitely recommend SiebenCarey. They’ve been great!
