After being struck in a crosswalk by a distracted driver and seriously injured, Steve wasn’t sure he wanted to pursue a lawsuit. However, a trusted referral to Jeff Sieben helped him secure not just justice but peace of mind for his future. Here’s his story in his own words:

I was in the crosswalk when I got hit. The next thing I knew, I was lying on the pavement with people telling me not to move. My head had smashed into the driver’s windshield. There was even a photo Jeff showed me later with the glass completely shattered and my blood on it.

The ambulance took me straight to the emergency room. After that, I spent two and a half weeks in the hospital, much of it in the intensive care unit (ICU). At one point, they thought I might’ve had a stroke. It turned out to be a pulmonary embolism, which scared me half to death.

A few days later, my brother-in-law reached out to a lawyer friend, who recommended Jeff Sieben. Jeff came to visit me in the hospital and started working on the case right away. I was still unsure about going through with a lawsuit because it just didn’t feel like “me.” But Jeff was so straightforward. He told me, “We’re not suing the driver, we’re suing the insurance company.” That helped ease my mind.

Jeff prepared for court from the start, even though he hoped we wouldn’t have to go there. He was calm, matter-of-fact, and never made me feel pressured or confused. I always felt like I was being told the truth and supported through every step. Even when we went through mediation, the mediator said to me, ‘You have a good lawyer here, he’s on top of things.’ And that made me feel so relieved.

What really stood out to me was how he and his team handled everything. All the hospital bills went directly to them. I saw how complicated and expensive it all was – page after page of things I didn’t understand. Jeff and his team made sure I didn’t get buried in paperwork or debt. I think I only paid around $450 out of pocket.

The recovery made a big difference in my life. My sister suggested looking into an independent living facility that transitions into assisted care if you need it. When we visited, I was floored. It was beautiful. But it’s a big financial commitment. If it weren’t for the settlement, I would’ve had to think twice. Now, thanks to Jeff and his team, I’m moving there in August. And I’m confident that I’ll be well cared for for the rest of my life.

I wouldn’t want to go through something like this again, but I’m grateful I had the right people on my side. Jeff made sure I was taken care of, and that meant everything.
