Guided by values. Driven to make a difference.

“Growing up in a single-parent household, I saw firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate life without access to resources or support. Watching my mother work tirelessly as a teacher instilled in me a deep desire to help others facing hardship.”

John M.S. Gauger is a former paralegal at SiebenCarey and recent graduate of Mitchell Hamline School of Law where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and in the top 5% of his class.

Since joining the firm in 2022, John has contributed to numerous complex cases resulting in more than $19 million in verdicts and settlements, including a landmark settlement in the wrongful death of a St. Paul construction worker. As a Certified Student Attorney, he has also gained direct courtroom experience writing, arguing, and winning motions, succeeding in arbitration, and completing depositions. Along the way, he has become a trusted member of the SiebenCarey legal team, assisting in a variety of personal injury cases including wrongful death, products liability, commercial trucking, workplace accidents, and boating accidents. He is passionate about helping clients navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

At Mitchell Hamline, John served as president of the school’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and has been the recipient of multiple academic awards including Dean’s List honors, Burton Award for best legal brief, and CALI Awards for excellence in Legal Writing and Research, Workers’ Compensation, and Mediation. John was also selected to compete in the Summit Cup oral argument competition as well as the National Veterans Law Moot Court Competition where his team advanced to the quarterfinals in their inaugural appearance.

An aspiring first-generation lawyer, John’s path to law school was shaped by his upbringing on a family dairy farm and the resilience he learned from his single mother, a public school teacher. Those experiences instilled in him the values of perseverance, humility, and service, qualities that guide his work with every client.

Grounded in his belief that everyone deserves an advocate, John is passionate about representing working families, union members, and public servants, communities he feels deeply connected to through his family background in education, military service, and the trades. Outside the office, he enjoys coaching youth sports, volunteering in mentorship programs, and spending time with his wife, Auria, who is also a recent law school graduate.

John looks forward to continuing his career at SiebenCarey as an associate attorney upon passing the Minnesota Bar Exam.
