Our client, an officer with the Bloomington Police Department had pulled a vehicle over to the side of the road for a traffic violation.  His emergency lights were activated and his squad car was pulled in behind the traffic violator's vehicle. He was sitting in his squad car writing the traffic violator a ticket.  Suddenly and without warning, his squad car was rear-ended by a vehicle that was traveling approximately 40 mph.  The force of the impact caused the patrol car to collide into the rear of the stopped vehicle. Our client was thrown forward and then backward, he struck his head on the barrier inside his patrol car.  According the police report, the at-fault driver was driving inattentively and did not slow or stop for the police vehicle. 

Robert Brabbit represented the family of a man that was killed in a car crash. The family lost a beloved son and brother in the crash. The decedent was a passenger in a friend’s vehicle. The driver had been drinking before the crash and had been chased by the police but “lost them.”  The driver lost control of the vehicle, it left the roadway and hit a tree. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died. The driver of the vehicle left the scene to avoid being arrested.

Our client and a friend were spending the day together riding Jet Ski's on French Lake in Shieldsville, Minnesota. When our client was about 200 yards from the shore, he began to slow his jet ski down to come to a complete stop. His friend, driving behind him, turned his Jet Ski to the left but crashed into our client's Jet Ski. Our client was found face down in the water and his friend, who was not injured, got off of his Jet Ski and brought our client to shore. Immediately following the accident, our client was flown to North Memorial Hospital. He sustained a renal artery tear in the left kidney, which resulted in him losing one kidney. He also received a left iliac crest (pelvic) fracture with mild displacement, multiple left rib fractures, and significant bruising to his left side.

Our client was involved in a motorcycle accident in Daytona, Florida. She was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband and they were rear-ended by another motorcyclist.

Our client was going to a friend’s cabin in northern Minnesota. He was riding his motorcycle and was following his friend who was driving an automobile. Our client was making a left turn and another driver came up from behind him and started to pass in a No Passing Zone and struck the rear of his motorcycle. Our client was thrown off the motorcycle approximately 30 yards. He was airlifted from the scene to North Memorial Hospital. Our client was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

Our client, a back-up goalie for the University of Minnesota - Duluth hockey team, and his fiancée were driving home after a hockey game when a drunk driver cut in front of them. Our client collided with the drunk driver and suffered a permanent upper back injury that ended his hockey career. This led to severe depression, anxiety, and cognitive impairments such as short-term memory loss, making it difficult for our client to continue as a college student.

This fatal automobile/bicycle collision occurred at an intersection in Plymouth, MN. Our client, an active 88 year old, was riding his bicycle westbound in the crosswalk when he was struck broadside by a vehicle traveling south.  The driver apparently did not see our client crossing at the intersection, though our client, in fact, crossed several lanes of traffic before being hit. An eye witness, who was traveling directly behind the at-fault driver indicated he could clearly see our client riding slowly across the intersection and observed that the at-fault driver did not slow down, apply her brakes, or take any evasive action before striking the bicyclist. Our client died as a result of his injuries.

Our client was riding his motorcycle on a nice sunny day south of the Twin Cities when an elderly woman failed to yield right-of-way striking the motorcycle. Our client suffered a broken hip, wrist and head injuries. The hip and wrist required surgery and a lengthy hospital stay. The client made an excellent recovery. Jeffrey Montpetit settled the case pre-litigation for $325,000.

Our client was a passenger in a truck operated by his friend who was under the influence of alcohol and driving too fast for existing conditions. When his friend encountered an icy spot on the road, he lost control of the truck and the truck went airborne and collided with a tree. Our client sustained serious fracture injuries to his left hand and also fractured his right femur.
