SiebenCarey and IBEW 292 Raise the Bar – and the Ribs – at Ribfest 2025
When your managing partner gets trained by a nationally known rib master, there’s only one next step: judging one of the biggest BBQ events in the state.
This year’s Yellow Ribbon Ribfest brought the heat — and SiebenCarey brought the flavor.
Teaming up once again with IBEW Local 292, the crew claimed third place overall in a nationally judged competition featuring 36 BBQ teams from across the country. Not bad for a law firm with a serious side hustle in ribs!
But the biggest plot twist? Managing Partner Jim Carey traded in his tongs for a clipboard, stepping into official judging duties this year after receiving training from a bona fide BBQ legend. (Yes, really.)
“Every year this event gets bigger, better, and more meaningful,” said Ian Carey, SiebenCarey investigator, decorated Army veteran, and Board Member of the Building Trades Beyond the Yellow Ribbon committee. “It’s incredible to see how much support the trades and firms like ours continue to show for veterans and their families. We’re proud to be part of something that gives back in such a real way.”
The SiebenCarey tent saw even more enthusiastic participation this year. In addition to Ian and Jim (while not officiating), attorney Cory Whalen and front office manager Susan Tereshko joined John Kripotis from IBEW Local 292 in cooking and serving up ribs with a smile.
The Ribfest, now in its third year, continues to grow in both turnout and impact, raising funds to support veterans and military families through the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon initiative. SiebenCarey was proud to return as a Gold Sponsor in support of this meaningful cause.
