When Should You Start Exercising After an Injury?

OVERVIEW
Always get medical clearance before returning to exercise after an injury. Starting too soon can cause reinjury. When you are approved by a doctor, start at about 50% of your normal level and increase by only 10%–15% per week. If you experience significant pain during or after a session, scale back immediately. Don’t push yourself too hard.
